Rathbarry village and the Sprigging School

The children in the Senior Room were buzzing with excitement last Friday morning as they headed to Rathbarry to interview Breda Hodnett of Rathbarry Post Office. She told them all about the changes in the post offices over time and her memories from growing up in Rathbarry. They then explored the Sprigging School and identified the many differences and similarities between the Sprigging School and Rathbarry N.S.

Before heading back to school, they enjoyed a picnic back at the benches near the post office. The fun continued later in the day when the children went blackberry picking. They returned to school with an impressive hoard of blackberries and enjoyed the fruits of their labour when they feasted on fresh bread and jam as well as blackberry crumble earlier this week.
