Colours of Nature

Before the mid-term break the whole school enjoyed a workshop with local eco-artist Kathy. This ‘Colours of Nature’ workshop supported both children and teachers to stop, explore, look and create various artworks using plants and vegetables taken from our own local environment. This experience created many learning opportunities and brought the outside into the classroom in a very enjoyable way. The children began the day by exploring the school grounds in search of colour. Then they created colours from flowers, rocks, leaves and vegetables. They also learned how to Hapazome which is the process of flower pounding using nasturtiums, pink roses, hydrangea, fuchsia, herb Robert and beetroot sourced from our school hedgerows, garden, polytunnel and Kathy’s garden. Thank you Kathy for visiting our school and giving the children a skill they can enjoy for many years to come.
